Use camera and Android settings first
Configure detection zones, person/package detection, schedules and alert types inside the camera app where possible. Then inspect Android's notification categories for that app. If the app offers a dedicated important category, allow it during DND and select its sound there.
When app + text matching can help
If your Android camera app posts a notification containing specific visible text, DND Override can potentially match that notification based on the app/text rule. For example, select the camera app and match wording such as “person detected” while ordinary “motion detected” notifications remain under normal DND behavior.
Exact wording matters. Capitalization can be ignored for literal keywords, and multiple words can use any/all matching. Verify the actual notification on your device before building the rule.
No implied integration
DND Override does not directly integrate with Ring, Nest, Reolink, UniFi, Eufy, Arlo or another security brand. It does not access cameras, video, accounts or cloud APIs. It observes the generic Android notification that a separate app posts after notification access is granted.
Reliability and safety
- The camera service and its Android app must deliver a notification.
- The visible title/message must contain the expected text.
- Android must keep notification-listener access active.
- Alarm volume must be above zero.
- Device-maker background restrictions can interfere.
For broader home automation notifications, read smart-home alerts during DND. For all-app behavior, see allow one app during DND.
